Dr. Fischer worked as a children’s book editor, marketing manager, and financial research coordinator before finally realizing her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. She graduated from Dartmouth College in 1991 and completed a Post-baccalaureate certificate at Tufts University in 2004 before her veterinary degree at University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She then completed a one-year rotating internship at VCA/Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg, MD. Dr. Fischer worked in full-time clinical practice for 12 years before relocating to Florida with her husband.
She is originally from Boston, Massachusetts, but has been steadily working her way South since 2001 and is adjusting nicely to the beautiful Tampa Bay area. Dr. Fischer has two dogs and a cat, and has always secretly wanted a tortoise, cockatoo, and a cow, but will probably never have them due to strict household limits enforced by her otherwise very tolerant husband.
